8 Days/7 Nights From Luxor

Some journeys are just commuting, but others offer experiences and learning while travelling from one place to another. An 8-day Dahabiya cruise from Luxor to Aswan is one of them; you don’t just travel, you live in the moment and learn about the majestic history and early civilizations of the Nile. So, as an experienced travel company in Egypt, we have crafted a round trip of 8 days and 7 nights in which you start and end your trip in Luxor.

Let’s cover the highlights of the itinerary here to help you make better decisions while booking cruises for exploring Nile riverbanks.

About the Itinerary

Duration: 8 days/7 nights from Luxor, with most departures on each Monday.

Destinations: ⇢ Luxor ⇢ Edfu ⇢ Kom Ombo ⇢ Aswan ⇢ Esna ⇢ Luxor

The journey begins by exploring the riverbanks on the east and west banks of Luxor, where you will explore the great temple complex of Karnak and Luxor Temple on Day 1. Thebes, the old name of Luxor, is not just a city but once was the major port city and ruling capital during the Ptolemaic age. Architectural wonders make the city extremely beautiful. Well, today the city has a large population situated on both the banks of the Nile in Luxor, which depicts its significance from the time of early civilizations.

On day 2 the travellers will explore the remaining monuments, which include the Valley of Kings, Hatshepsut Temple, and Colossi of Memnon. Then you will sail on your luxurious dahabiya towards Aswan. Meals of the day are offered at the restaurants on board, where travelers can savor the freshly prepared multi-cuisine dishes.

Breakfasts are served on board with the remarkable views of the Nile riverbanks, forming incredible landscapes that one would remember forever. Then in the afternoon, the great and well-preserved temple of Edfu is explored. It is one of the major shores that is being explored by the tourists, especially on one of the Swan Dahabiya cruises.

As the sun sets, you will be back on board and enjoy the gourmet-style dining with a magical night sky view from the cruise. On Day 4, the Kom Ombo, the famous dual-god temple, is visited, and the crocodile museum, with mummified reptiles, is explored with the experienced tour guide who lets you know about everything in detail; they help you understand hieroglyphic language and stories that make the exploring and overall journey engaging.

On Day 5, the city of Aswan is explored. All the major spots are explored in a well-crafted day of sightseeing. Places that explorers visit are Philae Temple, High Dam, and the Unfinished Obelisk. Mostly you spend the day in Aswan, and then in the evening some entertainment activities with dinner served on tables are organized for an enjoyable evening on the Dahabiya cruise.

On Day 6, the 7-night Dahabiya cruise again starts sailing towards the Kom Ombo; in the morning, travelers can witness the panoramic views from the deck.  By the evening the cruise will cross by Edfu and have an overnight stay near the port.

On day 7, breakfast is served on board, and travellers enjoy the on-board sun deck activities. By noon, the cruise crosses by the Esna Lock and continues to sail towards the starting port, Luxor, where the trip will be ending. Then finally, by the morning of the eighth day, travelers will disembark from the cruise; the last transportation will be provided from the cruise to the hotel or airport, depending upon the individuals’ further vacation planning.

Benefits of choosing the round-trips

Saves extra costs on the accommodation: on one-way trips, after the cruising, you may need to expense more for an added stay at the different port, and also you may need to transport more from one port to another to reach back at your port.

Convenience: with round trips, one thing that remains unmatched is convenience; you do not need to pack and unpack while travelling to different locations. For the complete exploration journey, you just need to stay at the cabin, and with that, you also experience 5-star luxury.

Reduce travel stress: Dahabiya cruise journeys are generally itinerary bound; you need to follow the planned itinerary and travel schedule until you have chartered a private cruise, so these 8-day dahabiya itineraries reduce the overall stress of planning.

Inclusions and on-board experiences

  • For airport transfers and other commuting during the itinerary, everything is covered; the hassle of finding a private taxi is completely eliminated.
  • World-class, gourmet-style dining is offered for every meal, making the journey more enjoyable, as in these 8 days you will explore different cuisines and dishes on board. Drinks like tea, coffee, and lemonade are also available on selected buffets.
  • Fantastic youth entertainment programs are organized for enjoyable evenings on board, and other interesting interactive sessions for making travellers comfortable are led by experienced tour guides and management staff.
  • All the fees for the ancient monuments and other taxes—everything gets included in the package that you take with us.

Faqs

Why does the itinerary start in Luxor instead of Cairo?

Beginning in Luxor allows travelers to experience Upper Egypt first, reducing internal travel time and offering a calmer introduction to the history. By starting in Luxor, the travelers can get a wider view of dynasties and shifts in the pharaohs by exploring the Valley of Kings and the Karnak Temple, which has imprints of the numerous Egyptian pharaohs. Also, Aswan and other locations are a little busier, so exploring the calm ones before will give a better start to the multi-day cruise.

Is this tour suitable for first-time visitors to Egypt?

Yes. The 8-day dahabiya route from Luxor is designed to provide a gradual, well-paced immersion into ancient history, with expert guidance and balanced sightseeing days. Also, travellers gets enough time on board to explore the luxurious amenities.

How physically demanding is the exploration in Egypt?

The exploration in Egypt involves moderate walking at temples and archaeological sites, but rest periods and flexible pacing are built into each day of the dahabiya cruises. These itineraries are designed to cater to travel with comfort for an overall enriching experience for the international travellers.
